A few words from April & Paolo:

"We eloped in Paris earlier this month and choosing Olivier as our photographer was the best decision we made. Our photos and video were absolutely amazing! We are both camera shy, but thankfully he guided us through the day and somehow made the end product look so natural and effortless. He also had the photos & video back to us within the same week! Is that even possible? Needless to say, our expectations were met a million times over. Thank you!!!"

A few words from Dina & James:

"Olivier photographed our wedding on September 5, 2016. It was the most magical experience of our lives. He knew exactly where to take us and avoided many of the "typical paris" sites which was great because our photos will truly capture what Paris is all about. He was very accommodating and generous with his time. We even had a little rain at the end of our time with him, but it turned into so much fun. I am so grateful to him for capturing such beautiful photos because it is a day that will live on forever through these pictures. The photos are simply gorgeous! One day when we return to Paris with our family I hope to take more photos with him!
Thank you for everything. You exceeded my expectations! "

  • FROM THE BLOG

With spring time in Paris comes romance and the wedding season! Our clients have been planning their wedding or elopement for months with WeddingLight Events; our sister company. Soon, they will pack up their wedding gown and tuxedo and fly out to Paris for their dream wedding ceremony. The timeline is ready, every little detail of the day has been carefully thought off. When I ask my clients why Paris, I often get the same answer from the bride; “it is a little girls fantasy come true”. Most of the time, it is a first trip to France for husband or wife to be as well. You can hear their heart beat!

When I photograph a wedding, I always feel a great sense of happiness that i share with my couples. It is such a reward to be choosen as their wedding photographer and be able to share with them the most amazing day of their life. I remember the first wedding I photographed in Australia over 20 years ago! I was a bit shy and clumsy and did not quite grasp the challenges that face a wedding photographer.  Since then, I have photographed many weddings in three different continents over the years. Every time I photograph a wedding, it is a real excitment that carries me through out the day. There is a certain “Je ne sais quoi” with wedding photography. I am very passionnate about my craft, being able to produce creative visuals over a wedding day is a complete thrill.

Elope in ParisPINTHIS

“My way of photographying a wedding is a little different from the norm I guess – Well it’s relaxed and laid back, but never short of inspiration. My main goal is to capture the essence of who you are as a couple. I’m well aware that people get a little uneasy in front of a camera. I have a way to make my clients relax very quickly with their photographer. Loving what you do helps a lot in making people in front of your lens simply relax and have a good time … I shoot very fast, i am trained to work instinctively, and facilitate a circumstance that is going to feel most authentic to you. If it’s authentic then we aren’t faking the moment with poses and artifacts. The pictures will have a natural look because of it.”

A wedding photographer real skill is to have the ability to find breathtaking images in moments and subjects matters that are entirely unposed and uncontrived. I tend to keep away from “Style me pretty” stereotypes. I aim to create simple, timeless, iconic photographs. Each wedding is different. Although I like taking my clients to certains locations in Paris such as the ile de la cité, the gardens of the palais royal, I also like the challenge of creating new images. Every couple is different, it is you who make the day completely unique. I feel it is really precious to be in the moment with your bride and groom, simply share their love and the specials moments of the day whether it is a large wedding or an elopement. I love the process of telling my clients wedding stories, not imposing my own pre set visuals, being able to be completely creative. I love the excitment of never quite knowing what is going to happen next. It keeps me on my toe and has kept me intrigued all these years with the craft of being a wedding photographer.

Now elopement in Paris has become a big part of my wedding photography over the past few years. I always use to say:”If there’s a chance during a wedding to steal the couple away from everyone for their portrait session, that’s the best. I love capturing those unique moments that beautifully illustrate the love they have for each other.” With elopement photography and specially in Paris, I feel so spoiled! Not only you have the most amazing city as a backdrop, you have a couple all to yourself ( almost ) for a few hours and complete creative freedom. You have all of the right ingredients to take gorgeous wedding visuals in a city such as Paris.

A couple of tips to make sure that everything falls into place like a princess dream. Paris can be a little hectic with traffic. You have to take into consideration the time spent in the car going from one location to the next. Make sure you allow two to three hours for photography with your wedding photographer in the streets of Paris. Including the getting ready at your hotel, the ceremony whether in a park or a Parisian church like the American church of Paris, your wedding photos in Paris and some photographs at your restaurant, allow for a total of 4 to 5 hours for your photographer to tell the complete story of your day. It may seem like a lot but time flies on your wedding day. If you are going to elope in Paris, you have the day all to yourself … There is no real rush in timing.

The only contrain is having beautiful light for your wedding photography. The more we move towards summer, the latter in the day we can shoot for some amazing photography in Paris. The light is best in spring from 5pm to 7pm while in summer 7pm to 9pm is quite ideal. In any case, if you have any question in regards to your elopement and wedding photography, get in touch with us via email or phone, we would be delighted to have you as future clients.
I will finish with sharing a few of the wedding photography reviews left by our clients on our google+ account. I am photographying a wedding at the Ritz hotel in a couple of weeks of the little sister of one of my bride who married at the Georges V hotel a few years ago. THe mother of the bride contacted me from Chicago a few months ago asking whether I would be interested in a family celebration part II …. I cannot wait and will surely be posting a few photoraphs on WeddingLight blog.

Your Paris elopement; A few thoughts from your photographer!

As we are entering warmer days in Paris, the wedding season is soon going to begin and more and more we’ll see couples in love, dressed up in designer wedding gown and tuxedo touring the city in a classic white bentley or a 1950’s 2CV citroen, with family, friends and sometimes just the two of them with their wedding photographer.

If you are a little untraditional, and do not wish to have a large event at home with months of planning, you have surely considered eloping to Paris. The love of your life finally proposed, you are just about to embark on a beautiful life of travels and adventure together. Now is the time to get married and seal your love for each other in beautiful Paris. Your mind is set, you are going to elope. You and your loved one finally decided to tie the knot so to speak! And you want to celebrate this happy and crucial once in a lifetime-moment in the city of love, the most romantic city in the world.

This is when the planning begins. There are numerous reasons why you decide on Paris. A lot of my brides simply say: “It has always been a little girl’s BIG dream”… and then one day, this little dream comes to reality. With its breathtaking Haussmannian architecture, stunning bridges, romantic side streets, renaissance parks, charming cafes, not to forget the iconic Eiffel tower, luxury hotels and 5 stars restaurants, Paris is the perfect background for the most important day of your life.

I have received a few emails early on this week from couples wanting some information in regards to photographing their forthcoming elopement. As your Paris wedding photographer, I will surely guide you to the best spots for your wedding shoot or your elopement session in the city of love. First and foremost, I will make sure that you will have a wonderful time during your Paris vacation, and specially during your wedding day. You will enjoy your celebration of love, you’ll feel at ease during your photo session because you are in very good hands.

It is your first time in Paris though. You have never done a photo shoot before? Don’t worry – I love my craft & have a real passion for wedding photography. I have a bubbly personality and I will make it a fun, memorable and easygoing experience!

Your wedding photographer is the only professional who is going to be present for the whole day. Over the years, I have built relationship and have become friend with some of the best vendors in Paris. I am glad to share not only my professional expertise but also my network of trusted friends with you. From hair and make up service to your luxury car, a warm and friendly officiant, even flowers & bridal bouquets as well as recommendation on restaurant, we are glad to share our knowledge of the city and the Paris wedding industry.

Back to photography and your elopement; from experience, I would advise that you book your photographer for 4 to 5 hours so that we can tell the story of your wedding day, from the getting ready of the groom and the bride at your hotel or private apartment, the ceremony at one of most exiting Parisian landmarks such as the Eiffel tower & the Louvres & square Jean XXIII right behind Notre dame and your photo tour which would ideally require close to three hours. You have to count on traffic going from one location to the next. I understand it seems crazy to have a photographer around for 4 to 5 hours for an intimate elopement where you will be just the two of you. I think it is a pure treat to invest in the best services over the wedding of your dream. Memories and gorgeous visuals are all that will remains and later on in life you will sit down with your love one looking at your wedding album and remember all of those cherished moments you shared with each other when you eloped.

elope in ParisPINTHIS

I can advise you on the time of the day to elope in Paris. Sometimes early morning is better for the light and the fact that there is less traffic and tourist specially at the main landmark sites… It is overall quieter, a little more peaceful but you may not wish to wake up early on your wedding day. I can advise on the ceremony location and also the possible route for your photo session. Once we have nailed down the ceremony location, we can consider the different landmarks to stop over for the photos to optimize the time traveling around town. If you decide on the square Jean XXIII, it is ideal to start the photo with the ile saint louis which is minutes walk, the Seine, followed by a stop over at the Louvre, possibly one of the parks such as the tuilerie garden or the gardens of the palais royal, the pont Alexandre III to finish with the Eiffel tower at sunset before you head off to the restaurant of your dream.

The city of love is all about true romance whether you will decide on an intimate ceremony in a romantic park, a hidden chapel or the foot of the famous Eiffel Tower to tie the knot. You will then travel the streets of Paris in your designer wedding gown to get some great elopement pictures with your “Amoureux”in Paris. Your Parisian elopement photo story will make this emotional moment and the love between the two of you unforgettable.

This is your wedding day, you have decided to elope and i am sure your friends and family back home cannot wait to share your true romance in the city of love with a fabulous set of photographs you will bring back home & share with everyone. You will feel the joy of this romantic day again.

So back to the planning, we are here to help and make sure that you have the most exiting day of your life. Do not hesitate to ask any question that you may have. If you do not have a wedding planner, i can assist you with the timeline of the day and logistics as well.

AND REMEMBER ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE.

I will finish this post with a wedding video of one of our couple magical elopement in Paris. April and Paolo had never been to Paris before. As i mentioned above, it was April’s big dream to get married to the man of her life in gorgeous Paris. It was wonderful to be able to capture the beauty of their wedding day. They decided to get married at the gardens of the Trocadero overlooking the Eiffel tower. We then drove around town in a classic white bentley taking photographs along the way. Just a perfect afternoon … You can view the complete story of their elopement in Paris, it surely will give you a few ideas.

On a very cold winter afternoon, two lovely birds decided to have their pre-wedding photo session in the streets of Paris.
Pamela had to surprise Anthony who (so he said was extremely camera shy!) – It doesn’t show much in the final result.
Pamela had requested a fun and laid back photo tour with only black and white photographs.
They looked so happy together, it was a lot of fun walking the streets of Paris with the two of them for three hours. I actually loved the idea of producing a complete set of black and white photographs. We see a lot of color these days but I think that was a wonderful idea. The final photos have quite a documentary style and they fit perfectly the beauty of the city and the fun moments that we had together.

Overall quite classic I think! Here a few more photo stories if you are interested to see more of my work and are looking at booking a photographer for a Paris photo session in the coming months.

Sandy and Edward will be getting married in Hong-Kong this summer! They flew to Paris for a few days late september. Edward had contacted me via a friend, who i photographed a few years ago with his  girlfriend. It is always very sweet of past clients to pass on my contact info in Paris, even nicer when it was over 4 years that I spend an afternoon with them touring the streets of Paris. In a way, it is quite a unique experience to contract a professional photographer for a few hours in Paris to document one’s love for each other with this beautiful city in the background. It is always a lot of fun to take a couple around town for some engagement or a pre-wedding photo session.

Sometimes I am even asked to capture a proposal in the city. It is always quite moving to experience first hand, this very special moment when a man propose to his future wife. My dear clients may be bankers, lawyers, doctors, they are always quite tense, insecure when the moment comes to open a little box with an engagement ring and ask: “Do you want to marry me?”
Always quite moving actually … a few tears later, some laughters! And off we start our photo session. It is wonderful to share this very special moment with a couple. It certainly creates a special bound and often a sudden friendship. Sometime you even get to travel the world a few months later to photograph your new friends wedding.

I have so many great memories of couples i met in Paris over a private photo tour + you get to meet interesting couples with such different stories, flying from all over the world to the city of love which, most of the time they had never been before! I can just imagine the excitement.

Certainly spring and summer are quite popular times to have a photo tour in Paris. The days are getting longer, as are the opening times of museums, terraces of cafés are getting filled with tourists and Parisians alike. You may think that those months are the perfect time of the year to have a photo session in the most romantic place in the world. There is not a best time or best places in Paris to propose actually or to have your engagement photo session. Paris is simply beautiful all year long, regardless of the season.

It is true, the Eiffel tower is such an iconic location, you may want to have this grand monument in the background for your proposal. (We will easily organise that for you) … And if it rains a bit, we can shelter to one of the many cafés around for a hot chocolate for a while. There is no real rush after all. (I am often asked), what do we do if it rains; no worries, i’ll have an umbrella which we can use as a prop, and in any case we will make this moment memorable and fun.

A lot of my clients would tend to propose at the Eiffel tower early morning, then have a photo session for a few hours. It is true that a sunrise session is quite perfect and for the right reason since it offers some of the most flattering light and is the only opportunity to capture popular iconic Parisian backdrops largely empty of tourists (e.g. Eiffel Tower, Louvre, etc.). If you are early birds, perfect! Me too …
We also love the night time when Paris is most romantic … and of course the magical transition to darkness, or so-called twilight; typically the first 20-25 minutes after official sunset. It is always good to check on a sunrise and sunset time prior to a photo shoot by the way.

PINTHIS

Please note that the sunrise and sunset sessions require a minimum booking commitment of 2 hours. While we also propose shorter photo session, “mid-morning specials” around the Eiffel Tower or the Louvres from 30mn to one hour, we would suggest you consider a longer photo session, which simply allows for greater creativity, more fun and of course a larger selection of gorgeous photographs. It does take a little while to get used to having your portrait taken. Past the first 1/2, you will feel like a rockstar once i have taught you a few of my secrets!
The ultimate experience would be to book two hours in the morning and the same for the evening this way we can play with some beautiful light. Sunrise, daytime, evening or a combination of both, everything is of course possible in Paris. We could combine a morning photo session followed by an afternoon shoot at Versailles which is only 45mn away from the city after all.

All to say that the possibilities are endless. Foremost, is it a lot of fun to organise an engagement photo session in town while you are visiting. If you want to surprise your love one, it is the perfect gift! Combine a photo session with a picnic at the champ de mars with “Love Picnic Paris“, and you will be in heaven sipping a glass of champagne while you enjoy the eiffel tower in the distance.

Here are a few more couple photo shoot that we have done recently with some international couples.

In any case, enjoy Paris  to the fullest. It is the most wonderful city on earth. And if you feel like having your portraits taken with your girlfriend, your wife or family member, please get in touch, i would love to assist you in making this moment quite memorable!

By the way, we have teamed up with “LOVE PICNIC PARIS” to offer great photography alongside a superbe gourmet picnic in the city.  IF you book photography and a picnic, you’ll even get a little discount from yours truly!

There is not one wedding like the next one. Traditions, cultures, style, personalities of the wedding couple & families and friends always differ. This is the real beauty of being a wedding photographer. This time I as off to Megève at the beginning of the skying season.I kept on checking the weather forecast for weeks prior to the big day! The weather had been quite mild in the Alps over christmas, well until just a few days before we were set to drive down to Megève. We did arrive in a snow storm. No need to say we were utterly exited! We had lots of snow over the three days we were in the gorgeous alps! We even managed to borrow some skies on our last day. Elisa and Morgan’s wedding was a wonderful experience. We had a blast really, hanging out with the nicest people. It did not stop snowing over the three days we were there. Great memories of the perfect all white wedding.PINTHIS
